Harmony Park Safari An Alternative to the Zoo

Admission to the zoo in any city is getting pretty expensive, most at nearly two or three times the cost of a movie. Recently, Sensible Life staff visited Harmony Park Safari in Huntsville, Alabama at $7 per person. This drive through animal adventure is a Federally licensed nature preserve that provides a unique experience allowing visitors to drive their vehicles through an area of free ranging animals. For an additional $5, you can purchase a bucket of feed, much to the delight of the recipients.

Driving through at the slow rate of speed of 2 mph, visitors can get a close up look at emu, zebras, ponies, alligators, camels, deer, reindeer, rams, buffalo, long horned cattle, and many other species, including reptiles.

After going through the fenced in area, visitors can stop in and view the reptile house, and hand feed baby turtles as well as turtles the size of a large box. This was a fun experience for everyone and one that is highly recommended. If you can find such a preserve in your area, consider this as a more economical option to visiting your local zoo. Just be sure to observe any posted rules for your own safety and protection.
