America is truly at a “crossroads”

One of the definitions of crossroads is “a point at which a vital decision must be made”. America is truly at a “crossroads” in her history at this point in time. Virtually nothing seems to be going right in our country. That “vital decision” is coming soon. The elections in November are America’s “crossroads”.

The U.S. has high unemployment with the prospects for jobs very bleak. Housing in the country is in a nose dive even with government help. America is fighting two wars that should have ended long ago or maybe should not have been fought at all. There is really no end in sight for our involvement in either of them. Our dealings with Iran get more harrowing each day. We now think they have enough plutonium to build two bombs. What’s worse in this deal is they want to use them to annihilate Israel. America’s deficit and debt is out of control, threatening not only the generations alive now but generations yet unborn.

Our government is out of touch and dysfunctional, usually making matters worse instead of better when they tackle a “problem”. A good example is the health care reform bill that has caused so much hate and dissention in the country. Neither side has a realistic idea of how the bill will affect America and Americans. The country has immigration issues. A bigger problem on this issue is the country is at war with itself. The Obama Administration is going to sue one of America’s states, Arizona, over the issue. Instead of being on the same side of the issue these two entities would rather fight it out in court.

Let’s just say America is not in good shape. We have had so many failed policies and misguided attempts to right our ship that it’s starting to get comical. Our leaders of the past few years, from both parties, have put America on a crash course with disaster. It is now time for America to right that ship. The elections in November will give us that chance.

Our choices will be stark in these mid-term elections. If America’s voters return Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Boehner and those already in power she can expect more of the same failed policies and disastrous government that has led to America’s decline. If the voters throw out the old guard and replace them with a new breed of politician then America has a chance to correct past catastrophes and get back on the road to growth and prosperity.

It’s America’s choice. Many times in our individual lives we come to the proverbial crossroads. Often the wrong road is taken. That’s part of living and learning. At the crossroads America is approaching now, we know both path’s quite well. She can take the old road, probably the wrong road, and be stuck with failure and the status quo. Or she can take the new road, hopefully the correct road, and open up a new path filled with hope and positivity. This country will decide in November. America needs to choose wisely!!
