Be On Guard
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008A certain percentage of Americans have spoken. What are we to expect from an Obama presidency? We’ve brought together a few things that you need to be on guard about. If the banning of opposition media from Obama’s plane is any indication of what is to come, then the truth may be more difficult to find.
- Source of Information: Watch carefully to see if conservative media lose their place in an Obama presidency. If Fox News and others are shut out from the White House press corps and only the liberal media remain; it will be more difficult to find the truth.
- Watch for the abolishment of the Posse Comitatus Act: The statute generally prohibits federal military personnel and units of the National Guard under federal authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress. On July 2, 2008, Obama said: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” {Emphasis added.}
- Watch for changes to the Insurrection Act; The Insurrection Act of 1807 is the set of laws that govern the President of the United States of America’s ability to deploy troops within the United States to put down lawlessness, insurrection and rebellion. There have been dangerous modifications to that Act already. Watch and see if it gets watered down more or if your civil liberties fade away.
- Increase in FCC authority: If the FCC suddenly starts censoring media outlets that “go against” the will of the state; we’re headed for deep trouble.
- Celebrations from unusual audiences: If Hamas, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations start to dance in the streets and celebrate our new electorate; tinges of buyer’s remorse may start to settle in. An article on a well read counterterrorism blog has an interesting viewpoint.
A quote by Jonathan Falwell really struck home. Some folks may have just put into office America’s first “made for TV” president.
Unbridled by true religion and the moral knowledge that follows, the current political season reveals that the majority of Americans may have finally succumbed to self–destructive gluttony. Thus their choice on Tuesday may represent what Plato feared: that the masses, uninformed by [moral] reason, have been easily swayed by the emotional and deceptive rhetoric of ambitious politicians.
Does the phrase “emotional and deceptive rhetoric” sound a lot like what you’ve been fed by the mainstream liberal press? It makes us wonder if the uninformed masses will wake up and wonder what they brought home with them last evening.
A minority of voters believed that moral issues are the main focus and that government should play a limited role in our lives. In other words, those are the people who believe in a free constitional republic. The majority of voters, led to the polls by hook or by crook, increasingly look for that government handout to solve all of their problems. They lack in self-initiative and are purely existing for the entitlements. That abhorrent behavior results in a socialist democracy closer to what is seen across Western Europe. One needs to heed the words of Benjamin Franklin: “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” A “spread-the-wealth” president just got elected.
We leave you with a couple of quotes from one of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson, “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
