The left must be jumping up and down with joy as Obama declares an end to the planned missile defense sysetm in eastern Europe. Obama’s decision to abandon missile defense as we know it, cutting the throats of Poland and the Czech Republic, handed Moscow’s hard-liners their biggest win since the collapse of the Soviet Union. According to the New York Post,
Russian strongman Vladimir Putin insisted all along that we’d never be permitted to deploy an anti-ballistic missile system in the former Soviet empire. He was right. And Obama got nothing in return. No Russian commitments on Iran’s nuclear program. No sovereignty guarantees for Georgia. No restrictions on arms sales to Venezuela. Not even a bearhug.
Wesley Pruden, Washington Times, wrote this in his opinion piece today, “Surprise was so important he only told the Czechs and Poles about it in a midnight telephone call so they wouldn’t read about it first in the morning papers. Then, while the Czechs and Poles were marinating in the bitter juices of double-cross and humiliation, the president made the official announcement on the 70th anniversary of the Russian invasion of eastern Poland, the first fruit of the infamous Hitler-Stalin pact of 1939.”
Coincidence? Perhaps, but we think not. This President trips over his shoelaces to apologize for America’s freedom and democracy. It’s sickening to watch him dismember the Constituition and the United States of America as we know it.
Senator John McCain was quoted saying, “It sends a message to the Russians that could encourage them, and it sends a message to our friends and allies not to count on our commitments.” Obama’s actions are dangerous to the national security of America. And, those of you in Europe should be afraid that America won’t help you this time around should tyrants overrun your national borders.
Robert Farley, Guardian (United Kingdom), wrote “Overall, this is a tremendous victory for a sane foreign policy and a responsible defence policy. The US will save money, and avoid needlessly antagonising Russia.” I presume the United Kingdom is capable of standing up to encroaching tyrants without the assistance of the United States. We shall see.
